Tip of The Day: Enabling Java in your Browser

I had some students run into an issue downloading a file from the internet that required Java to be enabled.  We believe this was turned off when the labs went through an update recently.  Since preferences are set at the user level each student will need to do this.  I have outlined the steps below

1.  Safari:

– Go the Safari tab at the top of the browser

– Select Preferences

– Select the Security tab

– Check the following:  Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript

2. Google Chrome:

– Go the Chrome tab at the top of the browser

– Select Preferences

– Select Under The Hood

– Select Content Settings

– Under JavaScript select

Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)”

3. Firefox:

– Go the Firefox tab at the top of the browser

– Select Preferences

– Select Content tab

– Check the “Enable JavaScript”
